The Senate and House Budget Committee Chairmen are aiming to complete the budget resolution conference report by May 15. Once the report is complete, it will go back to each chamber to be adopted.

As a resolution, the budget serves as a guide for determining final allocation levels for Appropriations Committees and entitlement programs. After the budget is adopted, Appropriations Committees will begin working on the FY 2008 spending bills.
