Senate Votes to Invest in America

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

On Tuesday, the United States Senate voted overwhelmingly to fund the vital programs and services that America needs, including job training for veterans, cancer research and Head Start. The chamber passed the Labor-Health and Human Services-Education bill by an overwhelming 75-19. The House overwhelmingly passed the measure last summer.

Now comes the showdown with President Bush, who has vowed to veto the bill. The President says he can't find the money to invest here in America, even as he continues to spend countless billions in Iraq. The bills will be merged in the next few days and the House will vote soon. Click here to sign the petition urging your member of Congress to invest in America.
